American Solutions for Winning the Future

NewtTo the Members of the National Federation of Republican Women,

My name is Princella Smith, and I serve as the Chief Advocate for the Platform of the American People at American Solutions founded by former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know many of you and working with many of you in our nationwide efforts to promote real change across the nation. Your President, Shirley Sadler, and I met at the recent NFRW board meeting, and we have had great correspondence since then. She has allowed me to share with you some information about the new grassroots movement that is catching fire across the country!

American Solutions is a new, nonpartisan organization founded by former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich.  We recognize that the American people have grown tired of the red-versus-blue partisanship.  The message for those seeking office in 2008 is clear: Americans want real change.

In the spirit of developing real solutions, we have developed a unique political document that serves as a blueprint of real change.  We call it: THE PLATFORM OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. Each of its 91 planks has the overwhelming support of a majority of Americans, including majorities of Democrats, Republicans, and independents. Below, I have provided for you ten prominent planks we feel are of particular importance to the national dialogue.  We believe these planks are important because they give candidates and elected officials popular, positive solutions to be for, so they don't always have to be against everything.

With the enthusiasm and dynamic energy you all possess and have so often displayed, we can change the political discourse to a discussion over solutions uniting the American people, not just slogans and clever attack ads.

Thanks so much for working with us! I am happy to answer any questions you have regarding this movement.

Confident about the future,

Princella D. Smith
Chief Advocate for the Platform of the American People

The Platform of the American People

To get a sense of the tri-partisan nature of The Platform, here are 10 planks we feel are of particular importance to the national dialogue:

English should be the official language of government. (87 to 11)

The option of a single rate system should give taxpayers the convenience of filing their taxes with just a single sheet of paper. (82 to 15)

Keeping the reference to "One Nation Under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance is very important. (88 to 11)

The changes we need in government have to occur in all 513,000 elected offices throughout the country and cannot be achieved by focusing only on Washington. (84 to 12)

Congress should make it a crime to advocate acts of terrorism or violent conduct or the killing of innocent people in the United States. (83 to 12)

We should dramatically increase our investment in math and science education. (91 to 8)

The United States should only grant citizenship to those who want to embrace American values and culture.  (68 to 29)

We support giving a large financial prize to the first company or individual who invents a new, safer way to dispose of nuclear waste products. (79 to 16)

Illegal immigrants who commit felonies should be deported. (88 to 10)

We have an obligation to be good stewards of God's creation for future generations. (95 to 3)

Words from Newt Gingrich

Newt"This is not a Republican victory. It's not a Democratic victory. It's about the American people making a set of choices."

-- House Speaker-to-Be Newt Gingrich in Marietta, Ga., on Election Night 1994

Take Action!

We are calling on the National Federation of Republican Women to help lead the nationwide charge by:

SIGNING OUR Petition urging the Republican and Democratic parties to formally consider -- by allowing for full and open debate, and a clear and fair vote -- each of the planks of the Platform for the American People during their district, state, and national conventions.  While we hope that all of the planks will be adopted, at the very least they should be given fair consideration.

BEING A VOICE at your local and state parties and urging them to consider each plank in the Platform of the American People during their caucus or convention.

ENCOURAGING YOUR friends family, and colleagues to sign our petition. Our goal is 25,000 signatures!
