History Lesson, Part 2
Here, on the left, is our hero Jack Ortlieb with Louise Orvis,owner of the Equinox and Fred Pabst owner of Bromley. Jack was from a small rural New York town. He was a dapper Irishman with ambition and chutzpah. He went to NYC and worked first in a speakeasy and then after prohibition at a nightclub. He rose from bartender to maitre d'. He had charm, a winning smile, and mixed great drinks. As he mingled with athletes, entertainers, politicians and gangsters, an idea for an inn began to form in his mind....

This is our son Oliver in his bakery. We are proud to serve Oliver's organic hearth baked breads for breakfast and dinner. All autumn Oliver and his team cater Tuesday Night Harvest Vegetarian Dinner at the Inn.
