Here I am with Albert the birthday boy. Twenty four years ago this July, we came to the Wilburton Inn for his big birthday. Albert, who never makes a fuss about birthdays, bought his own present, the Wilburton Inn. Next year is his big birthday. I hope he doesn't go shopping again.

This Yankee pitcher is part of Albert's  art collection that will be on display  all summer at the Main Gallery In Burlington, VT's old rail station . If you are in Burlington, check out this fascinating exhibit of paintings and sculptures. The theme is of the show is communications.  www.arttoscience.org Play ball.
Room #6 The Gilbert Room

Congratulations to Room #6, July's Room of the month. This Master Room is light and spacious. It has a spectacular view of the Battenkill Valley. The velvet chaise is part

of the Victorian character of the room.

There is also a large marble faced fireplace, comfortable armchairs, charming art and a mega flat screen TV. Hurray for progress.

History Lesson
Dorothy

Dorothy Thompson was the wife of  novelist Sinclair Lewis. She was a powerful radio and newspaper personality in the 1940s. She marched into the office of her friend FDR and demanded that he sign asylum visas for some of the refugee students who spent the duration of World War II at the school located at the Wilburton Inn. Now you know.

Katie and Ethan are our made for each other bride and groom. Their destination wedding began Thursday with a family dinner. Friday was a hee haw pig roast and Saturday was the wedding and big night.

Peacocks were the bridal theme. The bridesmaids dresses were shades of peacock blue. Ethan loves pie so Katie ordered  a cupboard  full of pies served with Ethan's favorite ice cream. My kind of food, my kind of wedding.

Every summer, Irene Hunter, Manchester's benefactor, came to the Wilburton Inn for cocktails, dinner and the sunsets over the mountains. She told me it was her favorite place in town. Enjoy the best, come up to the Wilburton Inn.
Sincerely,
