Please Pretty Louise!

This is socialite Louise Gilbert McBirney, daughter of A.M Gilbert who built the Inn's mansion on the crest of the hill in 1902. Louise's husband, Dey McBurney, a Chicago lawyer, built Brookside a second mansion for her on the southern part of the estate. Louise told her family she was going shopping in New York and hopped on a trans Atlantic luxury liner with a married man. The Chicago newspapers reported that the family was heartbroken and humiliated. Please pretty Louise behave. |

Bookside, Louise's Mansion
Louise's mansion has had several lives since 1903. It became the Old English Inn a nursing home, a home for a large family from Utah and a community farm. Now it is Telion Holon, which in Greek means the Perfect Universe. It has 12 bedrooms,12 bathrooms, ballroom and 2 kitchens. It is available as a house rental with proceeds supporting our children Oliver and Bonnie Levis' community farm. |

Uncommon Women and One Guy
Here I am in the Inn's great room surrounded by star talent. Standing above me is Dina Janis, artistic director of the Dorset Theatre Festival and head of the drama department of Bennington College. These theatre students are studying the plays of my sister Wendy Wasserstein. Next stop Broadway.

Texas Belles
Diane and her daughter, yes daughter, are our new friends from Amarillo,Texas They remind us to stop and smell the roses. They wanted to see New England and snow. Enough snow, on to flowers. This centerpiece was arranged by Kathy Chef Didier's assistant. Muti-tasking is the name of the game at the Inn.

Sister Act
Sarah and Emily are two upbeat sisters. They love the artsy ambiance of the Inn. They brought greetings from their mom Anne who sixty five years ago had been a student with her sisters at the school located here during World War 11. Our Sisters Package is just one of the fun packages that begins in May.
