FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER

Greetings!

Hello everyone! I hope your year has started out great. It's already February and you know what that means? Yep! Valentine's Day is closing in- so I am going to help you out. After you get through reading this newsletter grab your car keys and go straight to the mall. First stop: the Hallmark store to buy two cards- one funny and one mushy- and sign those "WITH LOVE". Next: the Store that sells the GOOD CHOCOLATE (not that cheap stuff you can buy at 7-11; trust me on this one.) Get some dark chocolate and maybe a white chocolate sampler as well (you will be good to go). On Valentine's Day take your better half out to a nice place to eat and enjoy the company because life is short. Ladies, your guy appreciates mushy cards just as much as you do. And just a reminder for us guys: they say for every successful man there is always a successful WOMAN and in my case no truer words have ever been spoken!!!  Paul

MARKETING YOUR BUSINESS

As promised this month we will talk about marketing your business. The type of business does not matter; you can adapt all the information to your own special business.
Now let's get started. I want to concentrate on the business between your ears this month.
The first thing is: Have you set your goals for 2010? If you have, you're ahead of 90% of your competitors. But if you haven't, why not? Seriously, are you going to just hope your business grows? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result (in this case more money) doesn't work.
Take the time to set goals, and if you need help call me. I will be more than happy to help. I can be reached at 941-716-2597.
The next thing I want to talk about is belonging to a master mind group and yes I know we have talked in the past. But I wanted to give you some down-to-earth reasons why you should be in one.

Just being in a room once a month with like-minded people, who understand being self employed, reminds you that you're not alone.
No matter how motivated, every business owner needs a good kick in the butt every once in a while. The mastermind group I am involved in has 6 entrepreneurs in it. I am the only one that is in Real Estate: others are in computer repair, internet marketing, clothing, pest control and multi level marketing. So we are all doing something different but we all help each other with our ideas and we support each other as well. .But (and here is the reason this group works) we also hold each other accountable for what we say we are going to do. Heaven help you if you don't have it done as promised. We make boot camp look like a weekend resort!!!
The friendships that are developed, the networking and new customers you will receive from the group are priceless.
But most important is the actual growth that happens. In our group no one had less than a 60% growth over 2009, and two members had over 100% growth. Each can attribute the growth to being a member of a master mind group. Not bad, considering the pundits claim 2009 was one of the worst economic years since the Great Depression. I know all of us expect to see another year of growth in our business regardless of what the papers say.... So for this month I want you to please consider setting your goals and getting into a master mind group. Again, call if I can help in any way. Paul 941-716-2597

BOOK OF THE MONTH

BE MY GUEST
By
Conrad Hilton

Sometimes things happen for a reason and this is one of those times. I recently stayed at a Hilton in downtown Atlanta for a marketing convention. I was looking through the night stand for something I could use as a book mark for the book I brought to read, and there in the drawer was BE MY GUEST. So I figured what the hell, I will look through it! Boy I am glad I did! This book is out of print according to the manager of the Hilton but every Hilton Hotel carries it and I suggest you go and get a copy.
The book starts out with Conrad Hilton's childhood, detailing how his family struggled to make ends meet. But the real story starts when he finds his true calling as the World's Best Known Innkeeper. It tells how he and his partners purchased hotels that at best should have been condemned, much less open for business. But they made improvements each day and before long one hotel became 2 and so on. But the struggles of finding financing in the late teens and the early days of the 20's was a challenge. Banks wanted nothing to do with him (sounds like today). Still, Conrad was able to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars in the 20's and throughout the Depression. He stated that he never gave up on his dream and told everybody that would listen to him about his hotels. People could see his passion and they wanted to be part of a success story. Some of the amenities we take for granted in higher-end hotels can all be attributed to Conrad Hilton. Just a few examples: High-end jewelry stores; coffee houses; day spas. All Conrad ideas. You gotta love a guy who always looks at ways to improve the bottom line, while standing out in a crowd.

So the next time you stay at a HILTON ask for a copy of

BE MY GUEST.

Quotes of the month

'It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. I have learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first.

Ronald Reagan

'Politics is not a bad profession. If you succeed, there are many rewards; if you disgrace yourself, you can always write a book.

 Ronald Reagan

'No arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is as formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women.

 Ronald Reagan

Now the last piece of business for this month, and in keeping with Conrad Hilton's motto "tell everybody what you're doing" here's my story. Most of you know that I have been putting groups together to buy properties in the Atlanta area. We have been making great strides; all of our homes are under contract and the new buyers are all first time home buyers. They are excited knowing they are getting their first home, that it has had a quality rehab and is in a safe neighborhood. One couple told me they have been looking for a home for over 2 years. First they were priced out of the market. When the market crashed the homes they could afford were all trashed by the people moving out. It's hard to get financing when the house is a complete disaster. When they saw the home they are buying they could not believe how lucky they were to find a great home in move-in condition. And from our point of view we'd made someone's day and a profit to boot. I can't explain how excited I was for this couple and I wish we could do more deals like this one. I can find the houses but the banks are not being too cooperative in the lending area. So if you would like to make 2 to 3 times bank rates on your money, or have an equity position on a great home and help someone become a new home owner give me a call. Paul
