Marketing Your Business

I read 10 different publications each month from Forbes to Smart Money to a number of different Real Estate magazines. And I see a common theme in all of them starting to creep in to the psyche of the world wide business community. It goes like this:  Nobody is buying anything; there are so many people unemployed who won't be buying our products so let's cut the advertising budget. Experts from economists to marketing executives all say this is the worst thing you can do for your business. In times of recession and economic slowdown the companies that use a good, consistent advertising campaign and provide quality customer service will gain market share. If you are marketing, people will perceive your company as strong and will feel confident in buying your product. To prove my point, how many of us would buy a Chrysler or a GM car right now? If they give me one I would take it but otherwise, no. My confidence in these companies is ZERO. And, now that the Government and Fiat are in charge, I have a better chance of giving birth than buying one of their cars. They are forcing dealers to close; how far will I have to drive to get service? So you get the idea. Now, back to your own business. Has your competition stopped advertising or gone out of business?  How are you going to capitalize on the competition's lack of understanding of the market place? Now is the time for you to be advertizing. Tell your market that you're still in business, are here to stay and are profitable.  And that your service is second to none. Be proud of your business and the service your offer! Tell the whole world and let your competition know that their days are numbered.
