		UNITED WAY & SI KIDS SEARCHING FOR SPORTSKID OF THE YEAR - NOMINATION DEADLINE IS SEPT. 25TH - MAKE YOUR NOMINATION NOW!
		DO YOU KNOW AN UP AND COMING SUPER STAR? Sports Illustrated Kids and United Way are searching nationwide for young athletes who are making exceptional contributions--on and off the field of play. If you know a kid who excels in sports, does well in school and gives back to the community, tell us about them! They could end up on the cover of Sports Illustrated Kids! NOMINATE YOUR CHILD, YOUR FRIEND, YOURSELF! SPORTSKID OF THE YEAR! United Way and SI KIDS recognize the important role of sports in a child's development and we're proud to bring this opportunity to kids all across the country. Starting August 1, kids can be nominated for the SportsKid of the Year (SKOTY) Award based on their athletic performance, academic records and community involvement. The nomination period runs for approximately six weeks after which time the top ten candidates will be revealed. The nationwide voting process begins September 26 and runs through October 14. The winner will be notified by November 3 and featured on the cover of the December 2009 issue of SI KIDS. The 2009 SportsKid of the Year will appear on the cover of SI KIDS, participate with the Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year VIP events, activities and appearances and receive a customized varsity jacket.
