Transforming lives through Jesus Christ

Greetings!
What a great week! I know it is
cold but God is good! Some of you may not know but I have been at the
Missouri Minister's School held at Tan-Tar-A. Yes, it is also winter here
at the Lake of the Ozarks but in spite of the barren trees it is still
beautiful. I actually saw two bald eagles flying around the compound
yesterday and against the blue sky it was quite the sight to behold. I
stood amazed for several minutes watching the flight of two regal birds against
the backdrop of naked woods. Simply stunning!
Have you ever noticed the dichotomy of
life? On one hand you have so many visuals and experiences that point
toward the power, grace, majesty and wonder of God who still creates. On
the other hand we witness and ponder the forces of destruction and evil that
inhabit much of the world. It can be confusing, confounding and downright
frustrating because we like sense and order and when we put these two things
together there is no way to achieve what we strive or long for; there is no way
to close the gap and find order. This Sunday we are closing our sermon
series, Lose the Weight, talking about debt. There is a dichotomy that
many of us experience regarding money - the power to buy things we need and
want and the lack of control over spending habits that push us to spend more
than we have creating extra stress and pressure. We will be taking a look
at this from a Biblical perspective and I believe that ultimately we will walk
away affirming that God is good and that we can truly lose the weight of debt
so that we can live fully in God's goodness. Come join us this Sunday at
9:00am or 10::30am. If you know someone who is struggling with this issue
this might be the perfect opportunity to personally invite them to come to
worship with you.
Thank you for this brief break away and
I look forward to seeing each of you this Sunday! Blessings in the
wonderful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior!
Jim

Radical HospitalityCan you make some time on Sunday, January 25th after
the second service to gather with the Radical Hospitality teams? We'll
eat and have some fellowship time. Then we'll talk through some simple
ways for all of us to coordinate our Hospitality efforts. We'll wrap
things up by 1:00 "ish".
We are wide open to ideas on ways to keep doing things well and how to best
organize this ministry.
Think about how can we
keep energized about this ministry and find a nice balance in everyone's
schedule. Feel free to think outside the box. We don't always have to do
things the same way simply because we have always done it that way. How might
we rethink our processes and procedures? What leadership system can we
implement to assure effective Radical Hospitality is offered up on Sunday
mornings and beyond.
Please let Rissa Glick,
781-7604 or nsequip@att.net, know if you are interested and will or will not be
able to attend. |

Children's Church
If your child attends Children's Church, they
should meet their teachers in the classroom at the beginning of worship (9:00
or 10:30). We worship together in the
Great Hall, sharing our joys and concerns as well as collecting our
offering. We then go straight to our
classes for age-appropriate learning activities. This format allows our children to have more
time in their classes. If your child
wishes to participate in worship with you, please know that they will not be
dismissed for Children's Church during worship. |
