A Single Mother's Struggle to Succeed
|
Cassy Dillard's journey has not been an easy one. She is
a single mother of three who has experienced her share of struggles. Her three children have all attended
Friendship House, a nationally accredited child care center. Her oldest now attends the Boys and Girls Club. Both Friendship House and Boys and Girls Club
are United Way agencies who depend heavily on financial support from the
community to provide top quality, affordable services to children and families. One of Cassy's children was born severely premature. Her
situation became even more difficult when she suffered a stroke. However, Cassy worked two jobs to support her
children. She even made time to attend college, realizing an education was a
key step in achieving financial stability for her family. "Because Friendship House provides affordable child care
based on my ability to pay, I was able to go to college and graduate in the
nursing program at Dalton State, Cassy stated. Cassy now gives back to Friendship House as a volunteer health
consultant and is an advocate in the community for the agency that has given
her so much.Helping those who have helped me so much, that's how I LIVE
UNITED.
