2010 Campaign Goal Announced
|
United Way Campaign Chairman, Rhett Orr, announced a lofty United Way 2010 campaign goal of $3.6 million for our communities at the annual campaign kick-off event.
Orr spoke to a packed house at Ryman Hall as he described life for a family here in our community and compared their situation to the blizzard of 1993. "Everyone was in the same boat during the blizzard. No power, no shower, no toilet," said Orr. He asked the attendees to consider what it would be like to live in these conditions on a daily basis. Orr added, "We weathered the storm of 1993, and we can weather this recession, as well". Asking for more campaign pledge participation from our community members was the theme of his speech.
