corpCORPORATE TRAINING EVENTS
Save Time and Money

Did you know that OCPE offers corporate sponsored on-site training programs tailored to fit the needs of your employees in your confidential setting and in a cost effective manner?

Especially in these challenging economic times, many corporations and agencies save valuable time and money by bringing OCPE training programs on-site by contractual arrangement.

Organizations use contract training events for their employees that include:
  • courses from our Certificate programs
  • courses from our one to three day non-credit courses
  • programs from our comprehensive course offerings that are tailored to meet the professional development needs of the staff
  • courses that can be developed in response to their exclusive needs
There's no commuting time and expense involved when the OCPE instructor and course materials are delivered to the workplace.  There's no waiting for the course to be offered and/or space to be available. The training is delivered on the company's timetable.

Companies find great benefit in OCPE's ability to tailor courses using the company's own case studies and examples.  Participants feel more comfortable discussing and problem solving in their own environment, making an immediate connection between content and relevance. Training managers appreciate having one point of contact for all their training needs.

Some ways organizations have used contract training effectively and economically:
  • Twelve hand-picked company participants needed to prepare for the Project Management Professional certification examination. Company contracted to hold their own four-day PMP exam prep course.
  • Federal agency sought to train seven local employees plus four out-of-state employees in Human Resource Management. Training was condensed from the public offering of 36 hours over 12 weeks format into 36 hours over 5 days to meet the agency's desired timetable.
  • National construction firm desired tailored emphasis for its employees' training on various Project Management courses.  Course materials were amended to include construction text and case studies from construction industry.
  • Out-of-state naval installation desired to train twelve government and civilian workers on modeling and simulation fundamentals. Considerable savings was realized by sending the instructor and course materials to the client, rather than sending the participants to a George Mason public offering.
Whatever your need...

Our staff will meet with you to design a program based solely on your educational requirements. After choosing from any of our current classes, or developing a training program of your own, our expert instructors come to your site and conduct training for your staff to achieve your company's learning objectives and desired outcomes.

For additional information about our on-site corporate sponsored training opportunities, please contact Susan Stinson at 703-993-4802 or sstinson@gmu.edu.
Instructor Highlights
instrJohn Blair

"Couldn't ask for anyone else.  Terrific instructor!" are the comments received from a 2008 student regarding instructor John Blair. Mr. Blair has over 25 years of experience in government contracting. He has worked with a wide array of clients including the U.S. government, state and municipal governments, and special entities such as the Delaware and Susquehanna River Planning Commission. For the past 14 years he has been an employee of Deltek, Inc., where he has served as a senior consultant overseeing product implementations. In addition to teaching for George Mason University's Contracting with the Federal Government series, he is also a senior instructor at Deltek.

Mr. Blair's prior experience includes working as a CFO and controller for a local 8A company, controller for the American subsidiary of a major European small arms manufacturer, and a cost analyst for a defense contractor. In these positions he was responsible for implementing and maintaining the integrity of the accounting systems, contract negotiation, and the preparation of incurred submissions and disclosure statements.

What students are saying -

"John was extremely knowledgeable and was able to give us good examples on how the contracting process works."

"John Blair and I crossed paths in a class a few years back, he is still an exceptional instructor."

"John is obviously an expert and presents this information very well.  He is an excellent teacher."

Currently Mr. Blair is teaching World of Government Contracting, Accounting for Federal Contracts and Dealing with Audits, and Federal Acquisition Regulations and Cost Accounting Standards.
