Additional Information - MLR Rebates

Many of our mutual clients are starting to receive their rebate information in the mail. I wanted to be sure that you have the most up-to-date information possible to help you answer any questions they may have.
- Coventry Health Care of Virginia, Inc. is paying rebates on small group HMO and POS business only. No rebates are due to small employer groups on PPO products or large employer groups on any product. Overall, our small group MLR was at 80%, but when we separated out the HMO/POS segment from the PPO, it represents a rebate of 1.3%. The rebates we are paying represent .5% of the total small group premium we collected in 2011.
- We sent letters to current clients who will receive a credit on their August premium invoice on July 3, 2012. If you would like to see a list of your clients that are eligible for rebates, please contact your Account Manager. We will provide you with a list of both active and terminated groups that will receive a rebate from us.
- HHS requires that carriers notify subscribers whose employers are due for a rebate. We began mailing those letters on July 5, 2012 and the last of them should be out this week.
- We will begin sending letters to clients who were not eligible for rebates next week.
- Please note, HHS provided the letters that carriers must use to notify clients and subscribers about rebates. Carriers are not permitted to modify them, but we could write and include an FAQ, which we did. The FAQ has been posted on our website for your reference. Page two includes information about what employers should do with rebates. Please note that although we offer this general guidance, employers should consult with their attorneys to ensure that they distribute rebates appropriately.
All letters included a toll-free number for groups and subscribers to call with questions. As always, feel free to contact your Account Manager if you have any questions. Thank you for your support.
