Notice of Privacy Practices
As required by state and federal law, Coventry Health Care mails a Notice of Privacy Practices annually to each subscriber. Because we comply with this requirement, as one of our agents, you do not have to issue your own Notice of Privacy Practices so long as you do not disclose personal health information to anyone  other than Coventry Health Care.

The Commonwealth of Virginia requires that we advise our appointed agents of Administrative Letter 2012-04, which updates the state's model privacy forms. This does not change the requirements within Sec. 38.2-604.1 as to when the Virginia Privacy Notice has to be given to an applicant or insured subscriber.

Attached you will find the administrative letter and model privacy forms. Should you issue a notice to your clients, the model privacy form will meet the requirements for compliance with the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA).
Expanded Women's Preventive Care Services
Effective August 1, 2012, for all new and existing Coventry plans that are not grandfathered plans, the following preventive care services will be included without cost sharing:
  • Well-woman visits
  • Screening for gestational diabetes
  • Human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA testing for women 30 years and older
  • Sexually transmitted infection counseling
  • Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) screening and counseling
  • FDA-approved contraception methods and contraceptive counseling (subject to standard medical management and formulary restrictions)
  • Breastfeeding support, supplies and counseling
  • Domestic violence screening and counseling
Most of the services that you see listed here are already covered in our benefit plans. The expansion merely provides 100% coverage for them. All existing pharmacy riders include coverage for contraceptives. If you have questions about whether your clients may be eligible to apply for the exemption for coverage of contraceptives, please contact your account representative.
Coventry WellBeingSM Gets Even Better
Recently, we implemented an improved suite of wellness tools with valuable new features and enhanced programs. These new resources offer more ways to engage employees in their own health.

Coventry Mobile Gives Clients Another Way to Stay Connected

We are making it easier for your clients to access their health information and stay connected while on the go. Coventry Mobile, which is now available in the app stores for free download (keyword search: Coventry), gives users quick and secure access to view the following information:
  • ID card
  • Current medications
  • Allergy and immunization details
  • Emergency contact information
As an added feature, users can email or fax this information to a provider or family member. Coventry Mobile is available to registered users of My Online ServicesSM, Coventry's secure member website, and it's compatible with smartphones such as AndroidTM, BlackBerry® and iPhone, and devices such as iPod touch and tablets.

Encourage your clients to download Coventry Mobile today and to look for additional features such as a provider search later this year. If you have any questions, please contact your Coventry representative.
Coventry Dental Expansion
Effective April 1, 2012, all new Coventry Dental prospects will have access to another nationwide dental network. Coventry Dental has executed a contract with PPO USA, giving us access to their CONNECTION® Dental network, one of the larger dental lease networks in the country. Our network lineup now consists of DenteMax, Careington, 4Most, and CONNECTION Dental.

Coventry Dental will go from having more than 140,000 access points nationwide to more than 170,000, making our dental network one of the largest in the country.

This exciting network expansion will have a positive impact on all health plans. Consequently, our dental pricing will improve due to the expected increase in network utilization. This is reflected in the second quarter pricing.

Member ID cards will now include three logos: plusnetwork (DenteMax and Careington), 4Most, and CONNECTION Dental (PPO USA).

Members and brokers can continue to use the same provider search and provider nomination functionality on our website cvtydental.com. The provider search engine allows members and brokers to search for providers by location, specialty and/or last name. The provider nomination feature gives members and brokers the opportunity to submit their dentists' information so we can begin the process of adding those providers to our network.

The addition of the CONNECTION Dental network makes Coventry Dental even stronger and will undoubtedly lead to greater sales opportunities for 2012 and beyond.
Medco/Express Scripts Merger
Medco is the pharmacy benefit manager for Coventry Health Care, Inc. and most of its affiliates (collectively, "Coventry Health Care").  Express Scripts, a pharmacy benefit manager, completed its merger with Medco Health Solutions on April 2, 2012. The combined company will be known as Express Scripts.  Patients will get their prescriptions in the same way they did before. There is no change to their pharmacy benefits as a result of the merger.
  • Medco members will continue to see the Medco name for now.
  • Members may continue to get their covered medications in the same manner as before the merger, without changes to their pharmacy benefit or retail pharmacy network.
  • No action is needed by members; they should consider it business as usual.
  • If members have questions about their pharmacy benefits, they can continue to call the phone number listed on their Coventry Health Care member ID cards.

Enrollment Applications Now Accepted by E-mail
Brokers for Coventry Health Care can now e-mail applications directly to enrollment. In turn, enrollment will advise that the application has been received and forwarded for processing. If e-mailing applications, we ask that you give us four business days for completion before inquiring. For Virginia business, use the following e-mail: shsbrokerapps@cvty.com.

This process is strictly for brokers and only applies to enrollment applications. As stated, we ask you give us time to process the documents before inquiring. If there is an urgent situation, please contact the CARE Team at 866.667.3062, Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (ET).
Safe Senders

If you are not receiving emails notifying you that a new commission statement is available, please check to make sure that the e-mail address coventrycommissions@cvty.com is in your "safe senders" list. Do not send an e-mail to this address. Instead, call 800.438.4029 for any questions regarding commissions.
