Formulary Changes 2012
| Throughout this year and continuing into next year, nearly 15 well-known drugs have or will become available as generics. As an example, Lipitor was the number one selling drug in the United States between 2006 - 2010. We expect the generic form of Lipitor to become available before the end of the year. The third best-selling drug in the same period, Plavix, will become available in generic form in mid-2012.
Core features of our prescription drug program promote the use of generic drugs when appropriate and have allowed us to achieve a generic prescription fill rate of 75.6% compared to an industry average of 71%. These core features include:
- Adding popular brand name medications to Tier One when they become available over-the-counter.
- Incentives in our standard pharmacy riders for members who purchase Tier One medications by mail order - a three month supply for just one copayment.
- Sending letters to our members taking Tier Three drugs alerting them to possible cost savings available if they change to Tier One or Tier Two drugs. Approximately 15% of members who received these letters in 2011 changed their prescriptions.
The list of changes to our formulary that will be effective on January 1, 2012 is available on our website for your review. Feel free to direct any questions you may have to your Account Executive or Account Manager. |
Coventry WellBeing Enhancements
| In November, we are implementing an improved wellness program with valuable new features. Our enhanced program offers more ways to engage employees in their health, as well as greater customization and improved reporting.
More engagement through personalized coaching We will encourage members to take a new health risk assessment (HRA). HRA results become the basis for our new personalized coaching programs. Programs are prioritized to the greatest area of need, with at least nine types of coaching programs available. New tools and trackers help members better monitor their progress, change behaviors and modify health risks.
Greater customization With the updated program, employers will have more flexibility to design an incentive program (both activities and rewards) that meets their needs. You can work with your client and Coventry to create an overall wellness program strategy that includes integrated tools for employees.
Improved reporting Standard reports show participation levels and assess outcomes in several ways. All groups may request activity reports detailing participation. Groups with more than 50 participants may receive a more detailed outcomes report, as well as a comparison to other Coventry business or to the previous year's results.
Watch for more detail on this valuable new program. Meanwhile, if you have questions, please contact your Coventry representative.
