New Name...Same Great Mission!
Cancer Support Community Valley/Ventura/Santa Barbara
On June 21st, The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura, will officially change its name to the Cancer Support Community Valley/Ventura/Santa Barbara. We  remain a locally governed and funded 501 c 3 nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action, and supported by community. All monies raised in the community, stay in the community.

The name change to "Cancer Support Community Valley/Ventura/Santa Barbara" is a reflection of the merger at the national level of The Wellness Community and Gilda's Club to become the largest professionally-led network of cancer support worldwide.

Our dedicated team will continue to offer the very same services and programs at NO charge to the participant--only the name will change!  Our goal is to help as many cancer patients as possible recover from the physical and emotional effects of cancer to the greatest extent possible. Our psychological support and educational programs are designed to address the loss of control, hopelessness and social isolation that cancer patients and their families often experience.

"Have you heard of The Wellness Community?"

Speaker's Bureau participants Dale Richter and Karen Eckhardt asked that question a lot on Saturday, June 9th when TwcVv participated in the Los Robles Hospital/H2U Health Fair at Cal Lutheran University.  Dozens of people stopped by our booth to collect materials, Los Robles Health Fairask questions and chat about our services.  These outreach opportunities are invaluable to our community awareness efforts!

Please contact Karen Eckhardt, VP of Communications and Development via email if you hear of similar outreach events or speaking opportunities.

City of Westlake Village Youth of the Year!

Danny Fischer, 17, Agoura High School senior,  earned recognition as one of the top youths from the City of Westlake Village this May.

Danny and his sister Emily started attending the Kid's Circle Program at The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura when their dad was diagnosed with the disease.  Danny was only 11 years old at the time.    Danny Fischer

Danny stopped attending the program when he was 13 but returned as a volunteer and teen role model a year later.
