Conejo Valley Cupcake Camp

Join us for the biggest Cupcake Tasting of the year!!  The doors will open to cupcake enthusiasts from around the city and county to an event presented by Cupcakes for Cancer, a nonprofit created in 2007 by then 13-year-old Blakely Colvin of Solvang. Blakely (pictured above) is a cancer survivor herself, and knows first hand how long and hard that road to recovery is. She believes God healed her for a greater purpose ...GIVING BACK!! Proceeds from this baking and tasting event will benefit The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura. There may be no "sweeter" or "yummier" way to help a good cause than to participate in this year's Cupcake Camp Conejo Valley. Tickets prices are $15/adult and $10/child.

Ask the Doctor about Colorectal Cancer with Heinz-Josef Lenz, MD, FACP

Dr. Lenz will present state-of-the-art information about colorectal cancer: current and cutting-edge treatments, symptom/side-effect management strategies, the social and emotional challenges of the diagnosis and survivorship issues specific to people with colorectal cancer. His presentation will be followed by questions and answers. Dr. Lenz is Professor of Medicine and Professor of Preventive Medicine in the Division of Medical Oncology at Keck School of Medicine at USC. He is Co-Director of both the Colorectal Center and the GI Oncology Program at USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center in Los Angeles.

On this episode, the Cancer Support Community addresses some important steps we can take to try to prevent cancer as well as the importance of cancer screening and early detection. Kim Thiboldeaux is joined by Carolyn Aldigé, President and Founder of the Prevent Cancer Foundation and Dr. Dave Alberts, University of Arizona Cancer Center Director who will speak to the preventive measures you can take to minimize your cancer risk, emphasize the importance of screening, talk about available resources and give an update on recent developments in prevention research.
