    CELEBRATE CANCER SURVIVORS
    Walk Amgen's Breakaway Mile

    May 22nd
    Thousand Oaks, CA

    The Breakaway Mile honors cancer survivors everywhere and shines the spotlight on one special local survivor - the Breakaway from Cancer® Champion.

    Amgen invites patients with cancer, survivors, caregivers, and advocates for those impacted by cancer to join in the Breakaway Mile. This celebratory one-mile (approximate) walk crosses the finish line of the Amgen Tour of California just prior to the professional cyclists.

    In addition to walking in the Breakaway Mile, participants will be invited to watch the race action from a special viewing area near the finish line.

    Light refreshments will be served.

      Mr. Hugh E. Petersen in memoriam- Celebration of Philanthropy Award

You will learn which foods provide the richest sources of phytonutrients, as well as how to easily and very practically consume foods rich in these vital compounds. Mary Farkas holds a masters degree in nutrition from Tufts University, and a Masters degree in counseling/ psychology from the University of San Francisco. She has worked for 25 years as a registered dietitian helping people shift their food intake toward healthy foods

    Dr. Bracho is Director of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the Ventura County Medical Center, Satellite Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Children's Hospital Los Angeles.

This program is provided by the American Cancer Society in partnership with the Professional Beauty Association/National Cosmetology Association.
