Reclaiming Sexuality and Intimacy for Women Going Through Cancer Treatment with Paula J. Anastasia, RN, MN, AOCN
    Paula J Anastasia

    Reclaiming Sexuality
    Thursday, March 24, 6:30 - 8:00 pm
    530 Hampshire Road
    Westlake Village

Sexuality and intimacy in a relationship--defined as the physical and emotional closeness with another individual--can change when a woman and her partner are going through the cancer journey. In this workshop we will explore common feelings and behaviors that may impact intimacy issues as a result of surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. Group discussion will be encouraged as we identify how much we have in common when dealing with loss of desire, changes in body image, and trying to recapture closeness and understanding in a relationship. In addition to identifying causes of sexual changes, we will discuss helpful tools and interventions to improve sexual functioning and intimacy.

Paula Anastasia has been an oncology nurse for over 25 years and is currently a Gyn-Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Paula has been published in numerous oncology nursing journals and books and lectures nationally on cancer treatments and improving chemotherapy side effect outcomes.
