Cancer Support Community

November 12, 2009
Dear Friends,

On behalf of The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura, I am pleased to share some exciting news.  The Headquarters offices of The Wellness Community and Gilda's Club have finalized plans to become one combined organization - Cancer Support Community. The Cancer Support Community will likely be the largest professionally-led network of cancer support worldwide, and is better equipped to meet the needs of people touched by cancer by offering innovative and comprehensive support services.

Our common history and commitment to the cancer community is what brought us together. But what has been created is a stronger, global network that will bring the highest quality cancer support to the millions of people touched by cancer. The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura is proud to be part of this new organization that will continue to help people live better by empowering them to identify and address their individual needs and to connect them to supportive communities.

This new organization brings more than 50 global affiliates together to ensure no one faces cancer alone. In Southern California, The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura, The Wellness Community - West Los Angeles, The Wellness Community - Foothills, The Wellness Community - South Bay Cities, and Gilda's Club Desert Cities will continue to provide education and support services to people affected by cancer. These offerings include a comprehensive menu of personalized and essential services, including support groups, counseling, education and healthy lifestyle programs.

I want to ensure you that this integration will be seamless as possible and that we will continue to provide personalized cancer support services to people like you in the Valley/Ventura area. In essence, as an affiliate of the Cancer Support Community, we will be the same Wellness Community that you know and love, but with access to the new, innovative resources and programs the Cancer Support Community is dedicated to developing.

For more information about this integration, please click here or visit www.cancersupportcommunity.org.

In addition, each affiliate will continue to operate as an independent
501(c)3 not-for-profit organization.  All monies raised in our
community will continue to be used for our programs and services.

I would like to personally thank you for your ongoing support of our organization and commitment to bettering the lives of people affected by cancer.  If you have any questions about this integration, please do not hesitate to contact me or Marty Nason, RN, MN, our VP of Programs and Services, at (805) 379-4777. I look forward to seeing you at TWC V/V.
Sincerely,

Suzanne Drace
