    Frankly Speaking about New Discoveries in Cancer is a free workshop for cancer patients and their caregivers/families. The workshop covers new discoveries in cancer treatment, side-effect management and psychosocial aspects of the illness.

    Dr. Ashouri specializes in hematology-oncology at the UCLA Hematology & Oncology clinic of Westlake Village.

    Laugh the night away as Conejo Valley resident Louis Ashamallah entertains you and your friends at The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura. The ongoing series of Comedy Nights is made possible by the funds raised at the Stand Up for Cancer Survivors fundraiser held in 2008.

    The highlights of Louis Ashamallah's comedy career include reaching the semi-finals in a national Comedy Central competition, being featured on the Good Day L.A. morning show, and opening for Jay Leno at the Bally's Hotel in Las Vegas for an audience of over 2,000 people.

    Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction

    This experiential eight-week course, facilitated by Catherine Baum, pictured, combines meditation, gentle yoga, readings and group discussion. Many people with cancer credit the course with changing their lives.

    Medical nutritionist and health coach Susan Speer will educate participants on eating right for their phase of treatment.

    Susan Speer has been developing and teaching programs in health promotion and disease management for more than 30 years in academic and public health settings. Speer is currently director of nutrition services at the Cancer Center of Ventura County.

    NEW Cancer Support Group in Chatsworth

    • Weekly support group for cancer patients (adults over 18) newly diagnosed, in treatment, and up to 18 months post-treatment. All types of cancer.
    • Share your thoughts, feelings, and concerns with other cancer survivors. You're not alone!
    • Exchange information and tips about coping with cancer.
    • Facilitator Jodi McIntosh (pictured) is a licensed psychotherapist and long-term cancer survivor.

    Frankly Speaking about Cancer Treatment is a FREE workshop for cancer patients and caregivers. This workshop features ways to help manage the physical and psychological effects of cancer treatment.

    Barbara Hornsby is a registered nurse specializing in oncology for over 20 years. She currently works at the UCLA Hematology & Oncology clinic of Westlake Village providing chemotherapy treatments and education.

    Women with advanced breast cancer and their loved ones are invited to this free workshop to help manage the physical and psychological effects of the disease and its treatment.

    Dr. Martino is the director of the Breast Cancer Section at the Angeles Clinic and Research Institute in Santa Monica. She has specialized in the treatment of breast cancer since 1979.
