A New Way to Make a Difference
Kids Circle makes a difference in the lives of children affected by cancer.

Now it's easier than ever to help TWC V/V give hope to a child affected by cancer.

By sending a simple text message of COMMUNITY to 90999, you can donate $5 to our programs for children whose lives have been touched by cancer - programs like Kids Circle, where children affected by cancer learn how to deal with the fear and uncertainty caused by a cancer diagnosis in the family, under the guidance of licensed therapists.

Here are some comments from Kids Circle participants and their parents:

    • "Kids Circle is one of the most enjoyable parts of my week."
    • "Kids Circle has helped me blossom into the person I am today."
    • "Kids Circle has helped remove the dread from thinking and talking about cancer in the family."

Here's how the text donation program works:

    • Text the word "COMMUNITY" to 90999 and respond "yes" to the confirmation text you receive.
    • You will see the $5 donation on your next cell phone bill.
    • Donate up to 5 times each month to maximize your impact.
    • Spread the word - to co-workers, young adults, family; anyone with a mobile phone!

No credit cards, no licking stamps - just the push of a few buttons, and you'll know you're making a real difference in the lives of children affected by cancer.

Latina Cancer Survivors Gather to Celebrate Life

The ninth annual presentation of Mujeres Unidas en Celebración (Women United in Celebration) took place June 20 with nearly 300 Latina cancer survivors and their guests in attendance.

Presented by The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura at The Odyssey Restaurant in Granada Hills, the program included a nutrition presentation, free distribution of prostheses and wigs, and live music by Mariachi Cuicatlán.

Councilmember Dennis Zine presented a Certificate of Appreciation to The Wellness Community for its work on behalf of Latinos with cancer and their families.

One participant said, "The event was entertaining and well-organized - it was also very informative. Thanks to The Wellness Community, my mother is stronger and happier and I am better informed. The Wellness Community has changed many lives with its support, and many Latinas would feel lost without its tireless efforts."
