Celebration of Excellence: Harry Menco, MD

Dr. Harry Menco is the Celebration of Excellence honoree for the 18th Anniversary Gala, to be held Friday, June 5 at the Four Seasons Hotel, Westlake Village.

Practicing oncology in Thousand Oaks for over twenty years, Dr. Menco has combined knowledge and compassion to serve as an ally to many local residents with cancer and their families.

One of Dr. Menco's patients is Gail Crawford, a Celebration of Hope honoree and a nine-year survivor of stage IV breast cancer. "This honor is well-deserved," says Gail. "His knowledge and his compassion make such a great combination. He is such a knowledgeable physician and very connected to new innovations and discoveries, but delivers the information in a compassionate way. I always felt like he respected my opinion and the fact that I had done my own research. Dr. Menco made me feel like what I said really mattered."

Dr. Menco understands the emotional side of the cancer experience on a deep level. "Half the time a patient spends in my office is dealing with emotional issues," he says. "Medical treatment is often well-outlined, but emotional support is harder. It takes more time and effort to help a patient get through the experience."

A member of the Professional Advisory Board of The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura from the beginning, Dr. Menco is a proponent of emotional support systems for his patients. "It gives a lot of my patients tremendous peace of mind knowing they have a support system at The Wellness Community, and it gives me peace of mind knowing that when they leave my office, in a way they are protected by this support."

Leader in Prostate Cancer Research to Speak on May 16

This free event is open to people with prostate cancer, prostate cancer survivors, and their families.

Dr. Leibowitz is a pioneer in the field of prostate cancer treatment. The protocols he developed are used throughout the United States and all over the world. Dr. Leibowitz practices with the Compassionate Oncology Medical Group in Los Angeles.
