| The Jewish Home Launches Hospice Program | |
The Jewish Home of Fairfield County (CT) is pleased to announce the launch, licensure, and certification of the Chaifetz Family Hospice.
Directed by Deb Wesley, RN, the Chaifetz Family Hospice is focused on providing the highest quality of life and maximum comfort for a terminally ill person by reducing pain and addressing physical, social, psychological and spiritual needs. The hospice team consists of specially trained nurses, physicians, social workers, home health aides, clergy members, and physical, occupational, and speech therapists. They travel to wherever the patient is, whether that is the client's own home, a family member's home, an assisted living facility, or a long-term care facility. In addition, the hospice volunteers and trained professionals offer services for families that include emotional and spiritual support, light housekeeping, and grief counseling with a bereavement specialist.
President & CEO of The Jewish Home of Fairfield County, Andrew H. Banoff remarks, "The recent launch of the Chaifetz Family Hospice is just the next step in building our comprehensive continuum of care. Our dedicated and compassionate team of professionals has been caring for the elderly for 39 years. This is a natural extension of our expertise."

| Working Together After the Storm | |
Covered in the Washington Jewish Week.
Revitz House, an independent living facility at Charles E. Smith Life Communities, was among the almost 4 million homes and businesses that lost power in the eastern U.S. due to a major storm on June 29. While the generator at Revitz House was able to support some functions, it was unable to power refrigerators and freezers in resident apartments. Residents, most of whom live on a limited budget, agonized over the loss of food.
The Revitz House staff went "above and beyond the call of duty," according to resident Sam Mason. Concerned staff went to each resident apartment, offering help with emptying refrigerators of spoiled food. To help re-stock, the Charles E. Smith Life Communities purchased a $25 gift card to the Giant supermarket for each Revitz House resident - a total cost of $6,200 for the 248 cards purchased.
"At the end of the day, we asked ourselves, 'What is our mission here?' " Nick Simmonds, vice president of development and public affairs, said. "We wanted to help people clean out their refrigerators and freezers, and we wanted to give people a Giant gift card so they can start to restock."

| 'Take a Swing for Seacrest' Raises Over $150,000 | |
The Guardians of San Diego, led by planning committee co-chairs James Haimsohn and John Kassar raised over $150,000 for Seacrest Village Retirement Communities at the 21st Annual Golf & Tennis Tournament "Take a Swing for Seacrest" held July 16 at the exclusive Del Mar Country Club.
Guardians of San Diego hosted over 115 golfers and tennis players at Monday's event presented by The William Gumpert Foundation. The golf tournament began at noon on the beautiful course designed by American golf architect, Joseph Lee. Tennis players competed in round robin play on six tennis courts identical in surface and color to the courts used at the US Open. The all-day event also included a silent auction, lunch on the course, dinner buffet and sold-out raffle in Del Mar's private Club House. The top auction item was Golf for Three at The Bridges with Seacrest Foundation Board member, Gary Levine.
"We are truly blessed. The generosity of our guests is absolutely amazing. The support of all of our sponsors and the dedication of all our volunteers is what makes this event such a success," said Pam Ferris, President/CEO of Seacrest Village Retirement Communities.

| MorseLife's "Living Well Project" Receives Grant | Kramer Senior Services Agency, the home and community-based services division of MorseLife, has received a grant of $25,000 from the Jewish Women's Foundation of the Greater Palm Beaches (JWF) for the "Living Well Project," a comprehensive information resource on services available to seniors throughout the County.
The "Living Well Project," launched in 2010, created the first-ever directory of senior services in the area called "Living Well: The Essential Guide to Senior Services in Palm Beach County." Now under the direction of Kramer Senior Services Agency with the support of the JWF, this directory will specifically serve as an online resource for seniors, to enable them and their families to easily access programs and resources to address their growing needs for support. The online site includes nearly 40 service categories to help Palm Beach County's exploding population of seniors and families - from nursing home and rehabilitation services, home care, care management and adult day care, to legal and financial services, veteran's assistance, volunteer opportunities and hurricane preparedness.
Linda Sevich, Director of Community-Based Services for MorseLife, will oversee the "Living Well Project." "MorseLife, as the parent company for Kramer Senior Services, touches the lives of 1,600 seniors every day needing health care, housing and supportive services, to help them to live with greater quality and dignity," she said. "We are honored that the Jewish Women's Foundation of the Greater Palm Beaches has selected Kramer to manage this important program, helping an even greater population of seniors who will need us."
