Residents Giving Back MorseLife - West Palm Beach, FL
In a commitment to "giving back", residents of The Tradition of the Palm Beaches, the independent and assisted living residence of MorseLife, recently hosted an elegant afternoon tea with all proceeds going toward MorseLife's Meals-on-Wheels program. MorseLife's Meals-on-Wheels, a volunteer-driven program, delivers 50,000 meals annually to homebound, frail and needy seniors throughout Palm Beach County. The event, led by sisters and residents Toby Susskind and Ruth Davidoff, attracted over 120 residents of The Tradition who enjoyed delicious teas, pastries, finger sandwiches, and music.
"Hosting these teas to benefit the MorseLife Meals-on-Wheels gives us and our fellow residents such pleasure in knowing we are contributing to a cause that helps those less fortunate," noted Ruth Davidoff. "The Meals-on-Wheels program is such a worthwhile program to support, as we have been doing individually and as a group for a long time." Linda McClamma, Executive Director of the Tradition of Palm Beaches, notes that the residents are well-known for their extreme generosity. "I am so impressed by their willingness to help people in need. This event truly reflects their belief in the concept of 'people helping people'." |
New Dementia Arts Therapy Program Cedar Village - Mason, OH
Cedar Village Retirement Community is creating a pioneering creative arts therapy program to improve the lives of people with dementia. A major donation from philanthropists David and Nancy Wolf (pictured left) will fund the program. Many people with dementia cannot express themselves in conventional ways, especially those in the mid to advanced stages of the disease. But research has shown that using creative arts is an effective way for them to become engaged. "More must be done to help unlock the doors to reach those with dementia and allow them to live as fully as possible despite the disease process," Carol Silver Elliott, Cedar Village's CEO and President said. "With this program, the potential for a positive impact is almost unlimited." Read the rest of the article. |

Run to Remember Hebrew Health Care - West Hartford, CT

Through the National Hospice Foundation's (NHF) Run to Remember Program at the New Jersey Marathon, Scott Herman will be raising funds for Hebrew Health Care. Scott is running in memory of two people close to his heart: his grandparents, Cele "Bubbie Ceepa" and Joseph "Papa Joe" Herman who were both residents at Hebrew Health Care's nursing facility, The Gene and Anja Rosenberg Hebrew Home and Rehabilitation Center.
"It is extraordinary when community people, such as Scott Herman, work so hard in support of a local organization such as ours," remarked Madelene Francese, Vice President of Development for Hebrew Health Care.
NHF began Run to Remember in 2004 as a way to support hospice care and it assists participants to compete in marathons, half marathons, 10K or 5K races. To learn more, visit www.runtoremember.org.
