Greetings!

Your students may be leaving school for the summer, but that doesn't mean they have to stop learning. While you wind down, Skokie Public Library revs up for a summer of exciting programs. Encourage your families to have fun and Read on the Wild Side!

Have a great summer! Till next school year...

Summer Reading Club 2009
June 1 through July 31

av roomSkokie Public Library invites children from birth through 8th grade to READ on the Wild Side during this year's Youth Services Summer Reading Club. Young children will be asked to read (or be read) 40 books and visit the Library five times during June and July. All participants will receive prizes for their progress. Children who reach the halfway point will have a chance to win one of our fabulous gift baskets loaded with books. Club members who finish by July 31 will receive a free ice cream treat at the Skokie Nights Chicago Boyz Acrobats performance on Wednesday, August 5. Children who live in Skokie are also eligible for a free T-shirt while supplies last.

Our proud sponsors of this year's Summer Reading Club are Westfield Old Orchard, Dominick's, Duxler Tire, and Forsythe.
Summer School & Camp Visits
Our place. Your place.

library visitTake an excursion to the Library for a roaring good time. Your children will enjoy a storytime of wild proportions and a pretend jungle cruise. Don't feel like traveling? Youth Services staff will bring stories, music, and games to your school or camp. Call 847.324.3117 or email me at hjin@skokielibrary.info to schedule a visit on almost any afternoon or on a Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday morning.
Tiny Hands Craft & Preschool Picnic
Especially for the little ones.

In addition to regular storytimes, the Library will offer special events for preschoolers and their families this summer. Tiny Hands craft programs for children ages 3 to 5 years are scheduled for one Tuesday morning each month. Registration for each program is required.

Families won't want to miss out on our annual Preschool Picnic on September 3. Musical entertainment will be provided by Tricia Sebastian, and registration begins August 1.
Get Ready, Get Set... Kindergarten!
Prepare for that first day.

kdg studentMany of your students will move up to Kindergarten next year, and parents will want to know how to prepare them for that first anxiety-ridden day. Suggest that the children register for Get Ready, Get Set... Kindergarten at the Library! This special storytime for the incoming kindergartner will include games and a craft to put little minds at ease.
Programs for Grown-ups
Your library. It's not just for kids.

Take the time to learn something new this summer. These valuable workshops for adults are all free-- all you have to do is register!
View more programs and register at our Online Schedule of Events.
