Eric "Crawford" Cire (Class of 1990)
 The Grizzly Bear of R&B
Eric Cire, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and accomplished producer creates music that moves people. Fusing life's experiences and expressions of passion to capture the sentiments of multiple generations, Eric Cire forms a harmonious union between music and life. Eric Cire is among a select few musical artists and producers who count the drums, strings, and piano as musical tools. As CEO and founder of Cire Entertainment, Eric Cire is one of the music industry's most extraordinary talents.
With the roots of Eric's musical inspiration stemming from his academically musician trained father and his singer mother, Eric had an early appreciation for music. His father would make him spend countless hours studying The Beatles' harmonies, Lionel Ritchie's song structure, and Quincy Jone's music production. He learned soul from the church; and singing gospel allowed the Detroit native the opportunity to show emotion through his talent. However, not convinced Gospel was his calling, Eric fought through the discouragement of his peers in the church and began exploring secular music. Armed with a gift for love-letter writing, Eric relocated to Atlanta to pursue his dreams. He wrote lyrics for the ladies and found temporary interest as a solo act. But with labels using physical standards as an excuse to ignore his phenomenal talent, his dreams of being a solo act did not come easily. Living in hotels and struggling to realize his deserved success, Eric pressed on. Months later, Eric's production talents began to peak the interest of the music industry. And performing at the BMI Urban Nights showcase gave him all the confirmation he needed to know that as an artist he could touch people's lives by his words, voice, and passion.
As a producer, Eric Cire has and continues to generate music for artists such as 3LW(The Barbershop Soundtrack), Farrah Franklin (Destiny's Child), Nicole '"Nicciâ" Gilbert (Brownstone), and newcomer hip hop and R&B recording artist NIA as well as his own Cire Entertainment artist Shonica a.k.a Lois Lane and Dana Lee.
Inspired by his daughter, T'Arica, and his father's dreams deferred, Eric is fervently chasing his goals of becoming a notable contributor to the world of music. Currently re-focused on his career as a solo artist and with audiences hungry for his work, Eric Cire is poised to deliver his debut CD (ericcire.com), a full collection of striking new songs to be released on Cire Entertainment.

A MESSAGE FROM ARTHUR J. LIEB (Class of 1956)
It is payback time. Let's "DO IT"!!! Don't let your school down.
Dear Cass Tech Graduates and Friends, As you are very much aware, the economic health of Detroit is not good. I have been working at raising money for a program in Cass Tech's Music Department. To date I have raised nearly $3,000 and I would like to raise more so the program can continue to be funded and expanded. The program I am supporting has engaged five string teachers who provide private lessons for needy students. The teachers visit the school and provide the lessons in practice rooms that surround the orchestra rehearsal room. The annual cost of the program is about $9,000. The program currently serves 58 students (average academic year cost of $155 per student) but there is a waiting list of other deserving students. I would like to raise enough money to continue support of the existing program and perhaps expand it. In the words of CT's orchestra conductor, Marc Hass: "One of the most expensive parts of CT's music program] is private instruction for instrumentalists, without which it is simply not possible to produce a high quality school music program. Many individuals, educators and schools have experimented with trying to find ways around this, but the bottom line remains the same: nobody, but nobody gets into Julliard with years of lessons with top quality teachers." Here is what you have to do! 1. Get out your checkbook right now and write a check payable to "Cass Tech Music Department". To sponsor a student for an academic year, make your check out for $155. If you wish to donate less I am recommending $1 per year from the year you graduated. For my class of '56, that comes to $51. Remember...your donations are tax deductible. 2. Send the check to me at 1140 Portland Place, Unit 101, Boulder, CO, 80304. I will prepare a record of donors and will forward the checks to Cass Tech the first week of October. Any checks received after that date will be sent to the school in mid-November. 3. Please forward my e-mail to any of your former classmates, siblings, or friends who may be interested in supporting the project. Thanks very much for your school spirit and for your confidence in CT's mission to continue the high level of education that all of us enjoyed and benefitted. For your information I have attached a press release of a gift of recordings made of CT concerts in the mid-1950s. (If you are interested in viewing the press release, please reply to this e-mail.)
Greetings and warm regards to many of you I remember so well and best wishes to all. If your travels bring you to Boulder, don't hesitate to look me up. -- Arthur J. Lieb 1140 Portland Place, Unit 101 Boulder, Colorado 80304 303.447.0120 |
