Welcome to the October issue of the Green Scene. A publication dedicated to informing and re-informing past, present and current Technicians.

Anyone living in or around the Detroit Metropolitan area, without a doubt, knows this area is experiencing a rebirth, a renaissance of sort. How fitting and prophetic is it that the hub of the Detroit downtown area is named the Renaissance Center?

Even our Tigers have experienced a rebirth. Go Tigers! Congratulations on their 2006 World Series appearance. With our increased communications to our alumni members we hope it launches a rebirth of Technician spirit and camaraderie around the world.

Cass Tech was built to last - even past rumors of demolition.

Detroit Public Schools (DPS) has agreed to work with a non-profit development corporation the Cass Tech Alumni Association formed to redevelop historic Cass Tech High School. In the future, DPS will announce a Request for Proposal (RFP).

On October 25, 2006, University of Detroit Mercy, School of Architecture and the Cass Tech Development and Preservation Society will present work developed during the Spring 2005 semester with Prof. Constance Bodurow's undergraduate studio, devoted to recasting the Historic Cass Tech as a catalytic adaptive reuse project.

Don't miss an exciting opportunity to ask questions and dialogue about the potential for redeveloping historic Cass into a mixed-use facility using the arts and residential uses as an anchor in the lower Cass Corridor. This is a first step to engage the Cass Tech community for feedback and support before working with Detroit Public Schools to develop an RFP process in 2007.

What: Presentation for the Cass Tech Community of ideas generated for historic Cass Tech (UDM Design Studio)
When: Wednesday, October 25. Time: 6 p.m.
Where: University of Detroit-Mercy, School of Architecture. McNichols Campus. Entrance off Livernois. Warren Loranger Hall. Exhibit Center.

Anyone can book on CTAA Travel.

So the more people you tell about CTAA travel, the more we can help needy students, provide scholarships and support various curriculums at Cass Tech.

50 Year Reunion - A Success!!
The graduates of 1955, 1956 and 1957 recently celebrated a fifty-year-reunion. Over three hundred alumni participated in the three-day-event, which included dancing, a tour of the new Cass building, casino events and more. Alumni made the trek from as far away as Australia to participate. Now, they rest before planning for the sixty- year-reunion.

Remember, there are only two types of people in this world. Those who GRADUATED from Cass Tech.. and those who wanted to!
