Shelby Newhouse (1944)
Shelby, a 1944 graduate, majored in music while a student at Cass Tech. After graduation he served in World War II and then spent 26 years as a broadcaster for WWJ TV and radio. The 4 time Emmy winning film and documentary maker now runs Insel Haus, a Bed & Breakfast located in Bois Blanc Island, Michigan. Nicole Johnson (2006) won First Place in the
Michigan Teen U.S. Beauties Pageant & Third Place in
the National Teen U.S. Beauties Pageant

Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick (1988) was selected
to be a
trustee for the U.S. Conference of Mayors at their
annual convention this year.
Cheryl Robinson (1984) has written 2 novels,
If It
Ain't One Thing and It's Like That. Both are set in
Detroit and one of the main characters is a graduate

James A. Smith, Jr. (1975) and
Tracy (Mixon) Louis
(1978),were married Saturday, July 15th in
Detroit.
They met 32 years ago in ROTC, but were never
more than classmates. After 27 years they
reconnected and found love in one another.

The CTAA is experiencing tremendous growth and we
need volunteers to serve on our committees
(Membership, Fund Development, and
Communications) and assist at upcoming events.
Volunteers needed to work 2-4 hour shifts at the
