FRIDAY FORUM

STUCK IN THE FRIEND ZONE IN NEED OF HELP!!!

Naked advice button 33Dear Naked Readers,

There is a guy that I think that I like, but I want something to actually happen between us so that I can verify my feelings. I'll give a little history. I met him last semester in one of my classes. We were put into a research group together so we were meeting pretty much every day. He always sat next to me and did what I thought was flirting. I suppose I did the same back, and we ended up texting a lot, instant messaging a lot, and hanging out a lot. People already started asking if we were dating because we were ALWAYS together. It seemed that he liked me, and I definitely liked him. But the problem was that my first boyfriend had broken up with me after 13 months of dating the previous summer, and I was still hung up on him. He was being shipped off to boot camp and when he came down to visit me 2 months after we broke up, we hooked up. This totally destroyed me, and I could not get over my ex. Because of this, I always talked about him, things would remind me of him and then I would tell the guy I liked. There was actually a point where the guy I liked said that my ex was ruining HIS life. So fast forward to now, I am totally over my ex (came back from boot camp and he was a total jerk to me, not to mention not as cute as I remember, so I'm over him. Yay me!!!), but the guy and I are best friends now. I feel that we can't get back to where we were with flirting and possibly dating like last semester, even though I am now emotionally ready for it. Did I completely F things up last semester to the point where we are now forever doomed to the friend-zone, or is there still hope? I would appreciate any thoughts, opinions, insults to my ex (totally kidding, but I can't stop you, right?)... Thanks! >> Answer Here
