MY ROOMMATE DOESN'T TALK...
Naked advice button 33

...she yells. My roommate has a temper and a half. After getting a boyfriend the second week of college, he was over here every other night. I finally got fed up with it and confronted her. I did it as politely as I could. Instead of talking to me, she started yelling, crying, saying I was being unfair. I was shocked because I had thought talking to her about it was the right thing to do.

After this argument, our relationship had been rocky. We simply didn't want to be around each other. So, I worked out an arrangement with a friend on the floor to move to her room. I thought it would be great; I wouldn't have to deal with her cold shoulder, and she would get her own room. She could have her boyfriend over everyday!

Imagine my surprise when I told her this, and she freaked out. Starting yelling at me, throwing in insults here and there. It seriously almost got physical. Apparently having her own room isn't what she wanted. (Anyone seen Misery?) But this last argument solidified my decision to move. I can't walk on eggshells in my own room, and I'm always afraid to set her off.

Now, knowing that I'm most likely going to be moving, she's trying to be the best roommie in the world. And while I appreciate her efforts, I sent in the forms the day after telling her. It's a done deal, and I was sure that she knew that. Now, though, she's acting as if her acting sweet is going to somehow fix this. But I know that next semester it will all go downhill again...and then I won't have the option of moving.

How do I firmly, but gently, tell her that I'm still leaving? I don't want her to go off on me again. To make matters worse, the room I'm transferring too is right across the hall from my current room. I've been trying to drop hints, obvious ones, but she's either ignoring them or honestly doesn't get it.

I really want this to end on good terms...I don't hate her as a person, but we just don't mesh as roommates.
