About our Market Partners
Cuyahoga Valley National Park is the partner for our Saturday morning market at its new Howe Meadow location. Established in 1974 as a National Recreation Area, the park received National Park status in 2000. Cuyahoga Valley National Park is also Countryside Conservancy's partner for the Countryside Initiative program, which offers long-term leases of farms within the National Park boundaries. | Dear Market Supporter,
Just out of curiosity, how long does a pint (or quart) of blueberries last at your house? Ours are lucky if they make it home. I often have plans for all the wonderful things I'm going to make with them: Muffins! Scones! Pie! Crisp! Pancakes! But, they never seem to hang around long enough to make it into those items. That's not a complaint. Blueberries are just about the most perfect snack- a quick rinse and they're ready to eat by the handful. The ultimate fast food.
I hear rumors from a few of our farmers that peaches are on the horizon as is sweet corn. Tomatoes are steadily making their much anticipated appearance, and cucumbers are so refreshing on these hot days we've been having. And none of them takes much fussing to enjoy. Fast food from the farmers' market- the best kind!
See you at the market,
Beth Knorr Market Manager
PS-We will be sharing Howe Meadow once again this weekend. This time for the event with horses with carriages. It's a fun thing to watch, especially if you have kids. Please note, however, that this will affect our parking patterns. And please refrain from approaching the horses unless you have the owner's permission.

At Wednesday's market in Highland Square, be sure to stop by the demo booth! Local food enthusiasts Candace & Lynette will be demonstrating just what to do with all those delicious market goodies.
On Saturday, local band Rock, Salt, and Nails will be back to bring you a market full of old-time, bluegrass, and more. Remember that these wonderful musicians are all volunteers, so be sure to stop by and show your appreciation! Spring Garden will also be present at our non-profit booth with some great activities for kids. Swing by to see what they've got going on. Finally, Master Gardener Sarah Vradenburg will be at the Waste Not Booth to serve as compost guru for the day. Bring all of your most pressing composting questions and let us help you get started! |

We think our vendors are top notch, and deserve that recognition, don't you? Please take a few short minutes to vote for us. Panzanella Salad
by Sage Culley | |
This easy hot-weather dish was a big hit at last week's Highland Square market!
** Denotes an ingredient available at the market
Salad
1 loaf of crusty or stale bread cut into 1/2" cubes, such as sourdough, French, or Italian**
3 medium size tomatoes, diced**
2 bunches of fresh basil, torn**
2-4 oz. chevre (to taste)**
Dressing
4 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp red wine vinegar
salt & pepper to taste
Toss tomatoes and bread in a large bowl. Let sit for 15 minutes to allow bread to soak up tomato juice. Add basil and 2 oz. chevre, adding more as desired, and toss.
In a separate bowl, combine olive oil, vinegar, and seasoning, whisking to combine. Pour over bread mixture to taste.
For a less traditional but more filling salad, try adding other seasonal vegetables that you enjoy. Experiment with cucumbers, peas, green onions, radishes, etc! |

| Dog Policy
|
While we love our four-legged friends, dogs are not permitted at the Countryside Farmers' Markets. They are, however, permitted to play at Howe Meadow, walk on the towpath or elsewhere in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, but must remain on a leash at all times. |
