The more observant among us have noticed that there has the more than occasional mention a Credit Crunch recently ... and in these uncertain times (how often have we read or heard that expression recently?) it is more important than ever to maintain a healthy client base.
 
The good news for small businesses is that they are more likely to succeed in these difficult times than their larger over-burdened counterparts.
 
Get organised
There is no point bringing in new clients if you are not dealing with the workload you already have. 
Write a to do list, put everything on it, in order of priority and decide what can be outsourced.  Best way to decide what needs outsourced?  That would be everything that you bumped to the bottom because you hate doing it! 
This will free up your time to do what you enjoy and earns the big bucks - heck you might find you have brought in new business but have more free time and can spend some of your new found riches on taking some time off!
 
Court your existing clients

Before even considering trying to get more clients it is a better idea to nurture the ones you have before spending money on trying to get new ones.
Ask your clients "What more can I help you with?"  Ask them for feedback "what am I doing well?" 
Do all your clients know everything you can offer them? 
By simply adding a small, regularly updated piece of information to every email or letter you send out, you could increase your sales. i.e. "Did you know we also do..." or "We would like to offer you a discount on our other services"?  
 
 Make some strategic alliances
Contact your local Business Gateway and see what is going on in your area.  They have several seminars every month, which include plenty time for networking and you might even find out about grants and funding available to you!
 
Google
Advertise your business on Google.  The Internet is where nearly everyone goes to source a new supplier or service - make sure your business is top of the list. There is no point in spending money on a website if no one is going to see it.
