Sweet September Sweet Sept

Book 2 in the Home To Heather Creek series.

Harvest time at Heather Creek Farm is an exciting time, but the kids don't seem to be getting into the spirit. One day while he's wandering through the fields, Christopher stumbles across an old piece of metal buried in the ground. He doesn't know what it is, but he hides it in the shed.

That night, the garden by the house is uprooted. Who could have done such a thing? Charlotte is determined to find out, but is distracted when she gets news that Sam is failing school. The sullen teen is indifferent and won't study. He starts spending a lot of time with Pete. Though she loves her son dearly, Pete never finished high school, and Charlotte is afraid he'll encourage Sam to do the same. How can she help him get back on track?

A gripping story that examines the Stevenson family's history as well as its shaky future, Sweet September will bring you deeper into the loving community of Bedford and the deep ties of love that bind this broken family together. As they forge new connections, you'll be entertained, inspired, and reminded that God's grace can make all things new. Buy the book here.

October 2008
Hello!

The winds swept in with some exciting experiences...

As fall has brought gold and red to Montana, the winds swept in some exciting experiences. First, I hit the road for Indiana, speaking at a fundraising luncheon for Hope House ... an amazing home for teen moms. That was followed by a quick trip to Chicago where I was interviewed by Today's Christian Women for some upcoming articles (complete with photo shoot!). The day after I returned from Chicago, the wind blew in two of my dearest friends Robin Jones Gunn and Anne de Graaf.

We joined my other dear friend Joanna Weaver for some "working" girl time (i.e. we worked on our books!). What a joy to be together! The week ended with Robin, Anne, and I speaking at a women's event at my church (www.easthaven.org). We had a blessed time! I love those women--both MY church women bookheartand MY friends!

I also can't leave out the new experiences in my own family. Both Cory and Leslie are taking classes at Flathead Valley Community College and my youngest one, Nathan, is homeschooling high school. We've also enjoyed the new challenge of having our foreign exchange student, Andrea, attending Stillwater Christian School. It's a busy house with busy kids for sure, but a house filled with love, joy, and FUN. And fun is something we should all make time for.

When the plane lands, and when my workday is done, then I get to spend time with the people that matter most in my life. In fact, I agree with Dorothy who said, "There is no place like home." And I'll add ... and "nobody as special as my family."

Enjoy your family today! Your friends! And all the new experiences God brings your way!

All God's Best,
Tricia

Dare To Dream!

What dreams are hidden in your heart?

I dare you to find out . . .

I imagine my face must glow when I talk about my latest writing projects. Looking back, I often wonder what took me so long to realize I wanted to become a writer. I've always loved reading and creating stories in my mind. During my childhood summers when my friends were at the lake, I spent my time in the library. That should have been my first clue. Looking back now, I can clearly see hints of the dreams God placed deep inside me.

It wasn't until I was married with three small children scurrying around my feet that I realized God created me with specific talents. (Talents that play a part in His purpose for my life.) But the contentment I feel when I use my talents and follow my dreams is uncommon in many people today, including some of my closest friends.

One afternoon I saw a wistful look in my friend, Stacey's, eyes as she squeezed a few minutes out of her busy day to talk with me over a glass of tea. "I wish I had something of my own," this mother of three small boys confessed. "Some type of special purpose that I knew was from God."

As Stacey spoke, I squinted and looked closely. I'm sure that behind her baby food stained T-shirt I saw something. Yes, she did have something of her own. Stacey's heart was filled with dreams lying dormant, waiting to be awakened.

Sometimes we, like Stacey, don't even know our dreams are there. We feel incomplete but don't understand why. Other times the fulfillment of our dreams is stunted by outside factors-not enough time, not enough energy, and too many duties filling up our days.

But most of all we just need permission. Permission to slow down. Permission to discover our deepest purpose. And permission to follow those dreams.

This is part of a 4 part series.

iPod Contest...Don't forget!

There is still time to win an iPod in the teen video contest!

***Video Contest for teens. Watch the video for the contest here

Here's the scoop!

Attention TEENS! Want to win an iPod?
Yeah, me too! (Just kidding.) Tricia Goyer, author of the teen non-fiction book My Life, Unscripted (Thomas Nelson) is hosting a video trailer contest!

My Life, Unscripted uses the metaphor of screen writing to challenge young women to "script" your lives, rather than be blown along by the next emotional drama or temptation! (Been there, done that!) You could be the lucky winner of an iPod!
All you have to do is make a short (or not-so-short) video trailer sharing concepts shared in the book: My Life, Unscripted...such as: how you've overcome temptation, or survived peer-pressure, or dumped the Loser boyfriend, or restored a relationship with your parents, or found your strength in Christ!

Be creative...interview your friends (or even better, make them wear dorky costumes) and add some cool music. Then just post it on GodTube (video must be approved by GodTube before it is broadcasted, which takes a few hours) or YouTube! You also must include three things in your video:
1) the book title: My Life, Unscripted
2) the author: Tricia Goyer
3) and these words: "Check it out!"

After you finish the video, email your name, age, video link, and your address to: bookmarketing@triciagoyer.com

The winning video will be the one with the most views as counted on GodTube or YouTube on December 31, 2008 at 11:59 p.m.

This contest is open to young women ages 13-19. So go ahead, tell your friends, your teachers, your youth leaders...and your parents friends to check it out! Here are some sample videos... Lauren!  and Ruthcel!

One  winner will receive an iPod Nano 4G.

(**small print: Videos with inappropriate content as decided by Tricia Goyer will be disqualified (G-rated please). For your best chance to win, only upload videos to either GodTube or YouTube. Choose one. We will not add totals from more than one site together.)
