"Four inventions ago, when we got interested in learning how we could patent our first invention, we contacted Mr. Vern Maine, founder of Vern Maine & Associates, who donated his time to help us file our first provisional patent. Now we're filing our first utility patent which will protect our latest invention, the SMARTwheel anti-driver-texting device, for twenty years, again with Mr. Maine's generous help," said TJ Evarts, 15.

Vern Maine & Associates Sponsors Scholarship Award

[Londonderry News, Dec 12th 2010] The Inventioneers, the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) World Champions, presented their Inventioneers Big Idea Patent Scholarship at the NH State FLL Tournament on Saturday, December 4th at Central High School in Manchester. FIRST LEGO League, a science and technology program founded by Dean Kamen, encourages teams from around the world to invent real world solutions to real world problems.

The Inventioneers, who have held four provisional patents on their inventions and have just applied for their first U.S. utility patent, have partnered with the Nashua intellectual property law firm Vern Maine & Associates for this scholarship. The law firm has donated its services to help the winning team prepare a provisional patent, which will provide patent protection of the team's invention for one year.

"We wanted to pave the way for another FLL team to patent an invention. Creating the Inventioneers Big Idea Patent Scholarship was the best way we could think of to do that. Mr. Maine, because of his firm's commitment to encouraging young inventors to learn about intellectual property, stepped in to provide pro bono services once again," added Jaiden Evarts, 13.
