The return of Boston/Newton FriendTrips |
|
FriendTrips is a project of the PTO's METCO Families and Friends Committee, as part of our work to build a strong and welcoming community for all Burr families. As you may know, Burr School has 15 students who participate in the METCO Program. METCO provides Boston children the opportunity to go to school in Newton (and other suburban communities), and provides Newton children the opportunity to learn in a more racially diverse educational environment. Our committee, with support from Burr teacher David Gaita, plans several social events during the course of the year. FriendTrips is a way for YOUR family to get to know other Burr families from both Boston and Newton. Together, our families explore Boston's riches, get to know each other on a first-name basis, and have fun! Our first FriendTrip is Saturday, December 6--Ice Skating on Boston Common at Frog Pond (1:30-3:30 pm). For more information about our ice skating trip, or to join our email list of upcoming events, please contact Dana Hanson at danakhanson@gmail.com. |
