Greetings! Greetings from Upstate, New York where the weather went from winter to tropic, as usual. I love spring and it's either been sun or lightning out this way. As far as I'm concerned, it can stay this way forever! What's new with oral health? Well, the dental profession has a new treatment to charge for... fluorosis. It mottles teeth and those at the top are telling dentists about this new income stream! Great scam: Dump fluoride in our water supply, let us overdose on it and our children's teeth go bad... Some Dollar-Store Bargains Could Prove Costly ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is a story about non-FDA approved dental
products getting into the U.S. market through local
'dollar stores.' While the story focuses on high
fluoride concentrates in toothpastes imported from
Canada and Africa (up to 10 times that which is
allowed in U.S. toothpastes), I want to turn the
tables on the downside of the story.
I don't own a dollar store, but I think one can find some pretty good bargains there. For example, Dr. Nara recommended the Butler toothbrush in some of his written materials. I found the Butler brush (in my opinion, the best I've ever used) at a local 'Dollar Tree' for a buck! Well, of course, I bought several... |

Get a Free ShowerPik ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just before I left for Boston last week, I got a
call from my friend, Tom Spaulding, who manufactures
the ShowerPik. He and I
cross-promote our products - he sells Dr. Nara's
books and I sell his irrigators.

Our Teeth, Dr. Nara, Books & Promotion ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In 1980, I purchased and read 'Money by the
Mouthful' and 'How to Become Dentally Self
Sufficient' by Dr. Nara. My wife, at the time, and
I had tremendous success with applying the
information which he provided through that material.
When the marriage ended after 10 years (I should've
read Nara's 'The 180 Degree Theory'), all of the
material we had from Dr. Nara and Oramedics
International went with her, but I figured that I
had enough under my belt to survive well - and I
did. At 48, I still have all of my teeth, they are
in good shape and the only thing I've ever had to
have done was a cleaning from time to time - and I'm
talking years between visits...
The problem was that I would occassionally run into others facing expensive dental treatment and really wanted them to know that they didn't need to necessarily go through the pain and expense to correct a problem they shouldn't have in the first place, but I didn't have access to any of the information anymore and couldn't help them. This is really the whole reason I got the OraMedia site for Dental Self Sufficiecy up and runnning in the first place. I sort of felt responsible for not being able to help people in this way and considered that if I put Dr. Nara's material online, then miliions of people all over the world would be able to benefit from his work... as long as they located the site. |

Don't care much for fluoride being dumped into your
drinking water? Don't like the idea of the
possibility of the kids growing up with fluorosis?
According to a couple of dental propfessionals out
there, you probably fall into one of these groups:
"Right-wing extremists, misguided environmentalists
("Greens"), chiropractors, persons concerned about
the costs of fluoridation, food faddists, and
antiscience "naturalists."
That's a quote from a paper by Ernest Newbrun, D.M.D., Ph.D. and Herschel Horowitz, D.D.S., M.P.H. in response to another paper entitled, 'WHY I CHANGED MY MIND ABOUT WATER FLUORIDATION,' by Dr. John Colquhoun. Boy, the fluoride proponents really bristle when someone goes up against them, don't they?? |
