Previously a taboo subject, hair loss in women is now garnering some attention from celebrities and the media.
Earlier this month, celebrity supermodel Naomi Campbell (above) was noted to be suffering from significant hair loss, perhaps from traction alopecia due to the overuse of hair extensions and actress Finola Hughes discussed her thinning hair with KTLA in Los Angeles.
August 2010 marks the 10th Anniversary of National Hair Loss Awareness Month which was founded by the American Academy of Dermatologists to bring attention to the condition which afflicts tens of millions of American men and women.
