The 2011 annual report for the Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County (EDC) is now available through a link at www.edcsarasotacounty.com. The report details the status of strategic initiatives designed to have a long-term impact on the local economy, as well as the EDC's ongoing activities serving businesses that are expanding in or moving to Sarasota County.

Are innovators or entrepreneurs more important to the economy?  Mark Huey weighs in with his article in the Herald-Tribune.

Still time to enter TV ME! Contest
Someone will be going to LA, and it could be you. This is a unique, fresh opportunity for creative people who may have no experience as a scriptwriter or producer, but do have a new and different idea for television content.  It requires only a five to fifteen page "pitch" of that idea and a small entry fee. The grand prize winner will be escorted to personal meetings in Los Angeles with executives in network, cable and independent television production to deliver his or her pitch one-on-one. Submission instructions and prize
information are available online at www.TVMEContest.com
