September 18th Constitutional Amendment |
|
On September 18th, Alabama voters will decide whether to approve a constitutional amendment that will provide money to balance the state's general fund budget for the fiscal year that starts October 1. Without voter approval of the new money, that budget will be out of balance by more than $100 million. Since the law requires a balanced budget, significant cuts or new revenue would be required.

Congress would have to act in order for this potential to be realized.
How much revenue potential is involved in this new tax? Read answers to this question and a detailed discussion in The PARCA Quarterly article titled The Revenue Potential of Alabama's New "Remote Use Tax" Law.
