This month's Perspective gives you a peak at PARCA's new mapping endeavor.  To accompany our "Alabama Indicators" project, we will be collecting and analyzing maps provided by various reliable data sources, as well as creating many of our own.  The first map can be viewed in the section below.

Alabama Indicator Maps

  

PARCA is providing maps of Alabama, from the U.S. Census,  Governing Magazine, and the National Priorities Project on populations, government services, economics, and spending.  The map below shows Alabama's population change by county from 2000 to 2010.  Thirty-one counties in Alabama lost population during this period, while five counties have had a population increase over 25 percent.  Where does your county stand?  To view interactive, county-by-county information on the map below, click here.

  • PARCA Board member Bruce Ely, partner at Bradley Arant Boult Cummings, was just named one of the Top 10 Tax Lawyers in the U.S.' by State Tax Notes.  Read more about his recognition here.
  • HealthSouth's CEO and PARCA Board member Jay Grinney will join Energen's Board of Directors.  For more information, click here.
  • Jefferson State Community College, led by PARCA Board member Judy Merritt, has been named the third fastest growing community college in the nation.  To read more about this recognition, click here.
  • The Birmingham Business Alliance has elected their Board of Trustees for 2012, and many PARCA Friends have been included. 
    • AT&T-Alabama President and PARCA Vice President Fred McCallum is Chairman-elect and head of Blueprint Birmingham implementation. 
    • The Birmingham News President & Publisher and PARCA Board member Pam Siddall has been named Vice Chair of Public and Private Leadership,
