"THINK GREEN!"
That's the challenge one school superintendent gave her principals recently. An environmental slogan? No, it was encouragement for her schools to improve student performance on the statewide tests of reading and math skills given every spring in Alabama. PARCA evaluates the results of these tests by color-coding them green (above average) or red (below average). The color-coding helps to see the patterns in results that are spread over six grades and two subjects - the more green, the better!
Do you know how your local school system scored on the most recent administration of these tests? The Fall 2011 PARCA Quarterly, just released, contains results for every public school system in Alabama. If you click on this link, you can go right to our analysis. Included in the report is a table containing the school systems that achieved the highest percentages of green results. If your school system isn't in the table, it can be in the future. Our experience shows that all students can learn at higher levels, and every school can improve its results. Read the evidence we lay out in this report. |
