I recently had a client who was walking across the street when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver. Luckily, the client was able to snap a cell phone picture of the car's license plate as it drove away.

When the client called me, I asked him to come into my office to sign some paperwork and officially start the claim. The client repeatedly cancelled, citing a variety of reasons; too busy, can't get off of work, his car had a flat tire. Weeks went by and the pain in his shoulder increased. Even though it was a good case, there was nothing I could do for him.
I had another potential client who tripped and fell coming out of a large, retail store due to a plate glass window that was improperly installed. She debated whether or not to retain an attorney; she thought she could handle the claim on her own.
Unfortunately, before she came to me, she gave a recorded statement to the insurance company. Though she didn't realize it at the time, this recorded statement came back to haunt her as she said things that ultimately eroded her case. By the time she came to me, there was nothing I could do. When dealing with personal injury matters, especially one where the damages are significant, it is imperative to seek immediate representation. If you don't, you may end up inadvertantly hurting your own case. Don't let this happen to you.
