Squirrel!
So, we're hiking through Yosemite National Park, one of (if not the) most beautifully breathtaking places in the world, and what do we take a picture of? . . . Squirrels, of course.

The Given Land is a novel written by my husband, which was inspired by our family's trip to New Zealand. When predators invade their island home, the bird heroes of the Given Land are forced to fight for their existence. Geared to young adult readers (aka our son, Sam), it will appeal to adults as well. Happy Springtime!
After a stark Maine winter of white and gray, the colors of spring--green grass and yellow daffodils and forsythia--are a feast for hungry eyes. Fortunately for me, I've eased out of winter with an extended visit to California: I spent four of the last five weeks there--teaching and on a family vacation. San Francisco, Yosemite, Monterey Peninsula, and Big Sur. Mostly great weather (no winter coats!), breathtaking views, friendly people, and color all over: in the streets of Chinatown, the rock faces of Yosemite, the pebbles of Moonstone Beach, the Pacific surf, and the plants and flowers. Very cool. And, lest I forget, fun week-long retreats at Asilomar and Cambria with great students!
Now I'm home enjoying Spring numero dos as I prepare for my own retreats. The May Springtime Retreat filled right up with a waiting list. The July Summertime Retreat has spaces available (see details below).
