Klondike Derby

What: Winter Camping, traditional Patrol competition, and fun events

When and Where: January 20-22, 2012 at the Lemolo Sand Sheds, 73 miles east of Roseburg on the south side of Highway 138 just before the junction with the road on the north side of the highway that leads to Lemolo Lake. Camping is available in a conifer forest with snow of an unknown depth. Parking is available in a plowed area adjacent to the Oregon Department of Transportation work site. The event is located on the Diamond Lake Ranger District on the Umpqua National Forest. Cell phone coverage exists at the Klondike Derby site.

Cost: Cost is $6.00 per Scout or Venture Crew Member. No charge for adults. Cost is $2.00 for each Webelos Scout. Extra Patches are $2.00 each. Each paid participant will receive one Klondike Derby Patch. Registration is open for a Maximum of 50 Patrols/Venture Crews. Limit of 8 members for each Patrol/Venture Crew.

Scout Sunday 2012 Scout Sunday

Scout Sunday marks the beginning of Scout Week in the USA. The Boy Scouts of America designates the Sunday that falls before February 8 (Scouting Anniversary Day) as Scout Sunday, which is the primary date to recognize the contributions of young people and adults to Scouting. Does your unit have plans to celebrate and share the Scouting Story?

2011 Popcorn Sale

The Fall Popcorn Sale is done! We would like to thank all of our participating units, Unit Kernels and District Kernels.

Your unit Sale Commission checks will be presented at your District's January Round Table meeting. Please plan to have an authorized representative in attendance to be recognized. If you or your unit are unable to attend the Round Table, please contact your District Executive to make arrangements for a presentation at a unit meeting.

Our "Top Producers" recognition event, December 10th,was an overwhelming success! We 116 Scouts and Family members in attendance, and the UO Staff gave us a Fantastic tour of the New Matt Knight Arena, following our Pizza Dinner at Track Town Pizza. Our hosts also upgraded our seat assignments so we were right down on the floor, and up close and personal with the Players, Duck Mascot and the Cheerleaders. Everyone had a great time and are looking forward to next year.

January will be the kick off month for the 2012 Friends of Scouting Campaign. Please be in contact with your District Executive to schedule you unit presentations. The earlier the better!

2012 Spring Product Sale

We will be taking unit orders for product at the February Roundtable meetings. Please plan on attending. We will be selling the World's Finest Chocolate bars and Tillamook Meatsticks again this year. This is always a fun sale and can help the unit and boys prepare for your summer fun camp activities.

Reservations for 2013 Philmont Contingents Due by April 30

Oregon Trail Council will have two contingents attend Philmont Scout Ranch in 2013. A $100 deposit must be received at the Scout Service Center by April 30. For more information, click here.
