Penny--new year

Greetings!

As another year comes to an end, we hope you had a peaceful holiday season. We sincerely hope we will ALL have a better New Year! Your support has continued to help save lives, and for that we are forever grateful.

We would like to introduce our latest rescue, Penny, from KY. She is our 428th rescue and the last for this year. She had 6 puppies but 5 died of starvation.  Only Lenny, the remaining puppy, survived, but he recently died of Parvo. Thankfully, for the last week of his life, he had food, water, cuddles and LOVE.  As you see, our work never really ends. There are always more pups/dogs to save, and it has become more difficult financially to do so. Since the start of The Great Recession in 2008, our adoptions have gone from 48-50 per year down to under 15 per year for the last several years.

Sadly, the recession has made our successful, thriving dog rescue into an animal sanctuary. At this time we have 13 highly adoptable dogs, many of whom have been here for more than 2 years. LNF is also home to 9 un-adoptable dogs. If you've adopted from us, you know we only adopt sweet, gentle wiggle butts who still love people. These un-adoptable dogs have come to us with major behavior issues due to severe abuse which resulted in fear biting, intense shyness and food aggression, or they have uncorrectable physical problems. We believe these dogs deserve to live out their lives in a stable and loving environment.

We hope you will pick us this year as your charity for tax deductible, End-of-Year donations. Since LNF was founded almost 8 years ago (2/24/04), we have rescued 428 dogs, finding 409 of them wonderful homes. With your help, I know that we can hold on until this recession passes.  I am also very proud to say that my "de-SEX in the City" low/no cost spay/neuter program has grown and we were able to provide $12,000 in grants from fundraising to the states of LA, KY, WV, NC, PA, AZ, NJ and DE. The puppies & kittens that we saved from being born are infinite.

I've always said there is a very special place in Heaven for those who adopt rescued dogs and love them until they take their final breath. There is a Penthouse Suite for those who adopt our Seniors, our Broken Dogs, our wonderful but not so pretty dogs. Our adopters allow us to save their lives and make room for us to save another life.

Equally as important are the charitable donations we receive so that we can continue to care for our rescued dogs until they can find their forever homes. As I'm sure you can imagine, the cost to care for so many dogs is very high.  Our food bill alone is $650 every 5 weeks. Due to lack of donations because of the economy, the last several years have been paid out-of-pocket.

LNF is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, so all donations are 100% deductible.   We take major credit cards and PayPal on our website www.lnfdogs.org. A copy of our tax receipt can be printed here  that you can complete yourself for your tax records.
