Last night while chatting with a few friends about dream work, I ran across some notes from a dream I had in 1994. I wrote: I was standing next to a tree in front of a church hearing a voice berate me, saying terribly unkind things. Then the church became a forest and everyone was free...

I find that interestingly prophetic, when I consider my religious background and the path I walked through nature into spirituality.

So here I sit in the "church" of my dreams. The trees standing as sentinels, timeless and patient, and I realize that all that I need is contained within this moment.

The rhythms of my body slow as I silently release all thought, expectation, memory and simply be. Each breath allows me to connect with the timelessness I discover in the presence of eternity. In doing so, I realize the fleeting reality of each physical incarnation, through which we experience all that life has to offer - joys and heartbreak, achievement and loss, insight and blindness... Ultimately there is nothing but love.

As we become more adept at releasing the ego, this inner space of stillness becomes more easily accessible and we can discover our own unique way of bringing that calmness into the storms of life.

Today my intent is to take the time to breathe, to hug a tree and live in the enchantment of the present moment.
