That's Right! One moment, insight or choice can shift everything That's Right! I am honored to be of assistance
Yesterdays journey transported me into a world of rapturous beauty. As I drove the winding roads through the mountains, I watched mist rising from the ponds and lakes and valleys as the earth awakened. The shimmering beauty spoke to me of mystery, new beginnings and change. This otherworldly inspiration is ours - how often do we miss it because our minds are entwined with the challenges of life?
With each turn, flocks of ravens scattered from my oncoming car. But yet, at this juncture of the journey Ravens were all that I saw - The Zen Master and I were quite alone.
I walked a dirt path not knowing what I came to find, only that the spirit of the mountains and the trees had called to me and that I had to respond. Streamlets and tiny waterfalls cascaded down toward the low places and I found myself thinking of Lao Tzo. In the Tao Te Ching he taught that we should be as water - flowing to the low places that humans reject. Did he walk higher and higher through a mountain seeking inspiration, and find it in the messages from the world around him?
Finally I found myself standing in front of a huge tree called the Giant Grizzly. Time was suspended and my imagination responded as his voice boomed in my mind, "You're here."
"Yes," I said, "it's you I came to see." Like most people at the sight of these ancient and towering trees, I felt quite small. I caught a glimpse of the passage of time this being has experienced, knowing too that one day he will age and weaken and return to the earth as all things eventually do.
From the tree's consciousness to my own, one thought permeated my mind:
What are the problems of mankind in the face of eternity? I, myself, have watched the struggles of humans who are now long since dead and gone, and I'm nowhere near eternal!
Seeing through the familiar humor and irreverence - I recognized that even a Sequoia tree is a mirror, a reflection and an inspiration. These magnificent trees offer a glimpse into the longevity of time... and I realized that the challenges we create are indeed a choice - born of fear and short-sightedness. Indeed, what are my concerns in the face of eternity, except a means to awaken?
At this point a Raven flew towards me and sat about five feet away. Fearless, he looked into my eyes and preceded to preen and clean himself, completely unconcerned by my presence. He walked with me for quite a while, leading me further into the mysteries of life. As the sunlight rose across the mountains, the iridescent colors of his black wings exploded into shimmering shades of blue and purple.
Raven teaches us of the opportunity to become the magician and/or enchantress of our lives. When we choose to allow the messages from spirit to dramatically alter our perceptions, we awaken the ability to transform our darkness into light.
Today my intent is to remember that this lifetime is nothing more than a temporary expression of eternity, to choose to see through the illusion of the physical world to the magic of creation itself, and to be a guide through the darkness. Wow, inspiraton indeed... |
