Chloride Stress Corrosion in Tubing Bundles
Chloride stress corrosion cracking (CSCC) is certainly not a new problem nor is it specifically related to tubing bundles. In fact, controlling or eliminating this type of failure is much more attainable in a premanufactured tubing bundle than with field construction.
O'Brien is the only manufacturer of tubing bundles that uses Chloride-free Urethane outer jacketing. This reduces the chances of Chloride stress corrosion. Also, the Urethane jacket remains pliable down to -40oF, where PVC jacketing becomes difficult to work with at colder temperatures.
