The Drexelbrook U-sonic family of ultrasonic transmitters is one of the most powerful and flexible units on the market today. A few key questions customers typically ask us:
Do you need a separate hand held programmer to set-up the unit? No, the U-sonic series is 100% field configurable via an integral keypad without requiring another device. However, the integral U-sonic is also HART compatible and can be set-up using a HART communicator or laptop software.
How does the U-sonic handle obstructions in the tank? Incorporating automatic "SMARTGain" technology the U-sonic will ignore any false signals from agitator blades or other obstructions in the vessel. The "SMARTgain" causes the ultrasonic system to attenuate its gain (ability to hear the return echo). The amount of attenuation is based on the known distance from the sensor face to the actual level. By attenuating the gain we have the ability to keep return echoes decibel level seen at the transducer face within a constant decibel range. This means that when levels are close to the transducer, we use a maximum amount of attenuation and when the level is far from the transducer we use a minimum amount of (or no) attenuation.
For an open channel flow application, what if I have a non standard weir or flume?A 21-point strapping table is included for user-defined vessels, weirs and flumes.
