Submissions to the Campus Life Weekly must pertain directly to the entire student body of UM.

  

Only events that are open to the entire student community, not just those in a particular school, will be printed.

  

Space is limited so submissions should be no more than 150 words.

  

Newsletters are published weekly on Thursday evenings during the Fall & Spring semesters. 

 

● As a result of the high volume of submissions, some entries will only run the week of the advertised event.

 

To submit an entry, please send email by 5:00 pm on the Tuesday prior to the publication date.

Mayan Predictions for 2012

The Maya (and Hopi, Inca, Egyptians and Nostradamus) predict a tremendous change for the earth that is already beginning. Abstracts are required for journal articles, conference papers, and fellowship applications. This workshop will teach skills needed to write an effective abstract, across disciplines. Participants will have the opportunity to assemble their own abstract. For ESL speakers, strategies for crafting English-language abstracts will be analyzed.

What is R.A.D.?
 

R.A.D. stands for Rape Aggression Defense and is a Women's Self Defense Class.  This program is a hands-on course designed to emphasize confidence and self discipline while developing & enhancing options of self-defense.  This course will teach basic self-defense techniques and emphasize common sense approaches to safety on campus.  Classes are taught by certified instructors from URecFit & University Police.  To register or for more information click here

Assistant Objects Conservator Jessica Arista, from the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, will discuss artworks from the Ancient Americas. The museum was recently gifted a large collection by a private collector. Over the past two years, a curator, objects conservators, and a conservation scientist have been working to prepare some of these objects for the special exhibition. Refreshments will be served.

You don't have to be a member of the LGBT community to celebrate National Coming Out Day.

 

Join us as we promote public awareness of gay, bisexual, lesbian and transgender rights; to celebrate homosexuality; and form a network of straight allies on the UM campus.
